How to use

1. Open the app and allow microphone access on first use. Measurement starts automatically while the app is open.
2. Play one sustained note at a time in a quiet place. A needle near the center means the sound is close to the reference pitch for the displayed note.
3. A needle to the left means the sound is flat; to the right, sharp. Adjust your instrument toward the center.
4. Use the A4 setting at the bottom of the screen to choose a reference from 415 to 466 Hz. The default is 440 Hz.

Frequently asked questions

The needle does not move or a note is not displayed

Check that microphone access is enabled for this app in your device settings. Reduce background noise, move the instrument closer to the microphone and play one note at a time. Chords and short percussive sounds may not be detected. The measurement range is 35–2000 Hz for single notes.

I denied microphone access

Enable microphone access in your device settings and reopen the app. Pitch cannot be measured without permission.

The reading fluctuates

Noise, volume, the device microphone and connected input devices can affect the reading. Play a steady, sustained single note.

Does the app use the microphone in the background?

Microphone input and measurement stop when the app moves into the background.

Are recordings or an account required?

No account is required. The covered versions analyze audio on your device. They do not save audio files or measurement history, or transmit audio or measurement results externally.
